When it comes to choosing shs track, most of incoming shs students will basically prefer academic tracks or perhaps TVL track but will never try to choose Agri-fishery Arts strand since they think there is no opportunity in Agriculture. When people think about agriculture, they tend to think about farmers, producing crops, working with soil. I’ve in that kind of thinking before. But now as a ACP student, I can assure to you that Agricultural Crop Production which is under Agri-fishery Arts is not all about farming. Agricultural Crop Production is within the scope of TVL Agri-fishery strand which is designed for hands-on learning and application of skills that are related to agriculture such as crop production, organic farming, and landscaping. Under this strand, students will learn and understand traditional and modern farming by teaching them the process and techniques of how to produce crops, use the right fertilizer, pesticide, and insecticide, and using agricultural tools and machinery for faster and convenient farming. It also covers the identification and analysis of problems in agriculture like what is the factor affecting crops production. ACP strand provides adequate knowledge and actual learning experience on crop production. You’re expected to produce and harvest crops and market it. Agricultural crop production strands not only aiming for the development of the students skill about farming but moreover gives importance to the potential of the students to become a good speaker, you’re expected to provide and deliver reports of the step by step process of producing the crops.

 At ACP, you can get acquainted with various kinds of crops, there local, english and scientific terms. Also, you will be able to identify the right crop to be planted for different types of soil, identify the best climate and time to plant crops since climatic factors strongly affect all stages and processes of plant growth. ACP strand aims to make sure that you are well-informed and well-prepared with the basic skills and knowledge just in case you’ll continue to go to college and take courses that in line with Agricultural Crop Production or choose to work in farms.
